On September 10 Mr. Vyacheslav Yaremenko, Kherson First Deputy Mayor met Mr. Francois Hentschel, Charge d’Affaires of South African Embassy to Kyiv. Mrs. Viktoriya Ostroumova, President of the Kherson CCI, some officials and Mrs. Larysa Poplavska, Honorary Consul of the Republic of South Africa in Odesa and Mr. Mykola Poplavskiy, President of Ukraine-South Africa Friendship Society were also present at the meeting.

This visit of Mr. Francois Hentschel to Kherson was the first, though, as he himself mentioned «not the last one». During the meeting parties discussed the wide range of questions, being of mutual interest. In particular the current state of trade and economic relations between our countries, establishment of closer interregional relations, information and cultural exchange, as well as «national diplomacy» development — the establishment of sister relations on the level of Ukrainian and South African cities' population were of special interest. Possible cooperation and experience exchange in the sphere of agriculture, shipbuilding, tourist and recreation branches were besides considered. In measures of the visit the establishment of the South Africa cultural centre in the Kherson International University of Business and Law was planned.
